Access Statement

The Following statement is a summery of our provisions, if you have any specific questions, don’t hesitate to call. Mountain View is a self-contained b and b which has been newly built this year 2008. It is one bedroomed double room, with a double bed, and self-contained Bathroom. It has its own Kitchen and Sitting room area. There is a Sofa bed in the sitting room area, so it can sleep up to four people. The b and b is not suitable for wheelchair users.

Pre-Arrival

  • Local transport is very good during the main season, but in winter it is limited
  • The main bus stop is situated in the centre of the village, opposite the Crown Hotel
  • The nearest bus stop is 2 minutes walk away.
  • The nearest Railway station is in Windermere which is 12 miles away.
  • We have a basic website www.mountainbbonline.com
  • This provides pictures of our accommodation.
  • You can contact us via phone or website.
  • Assistance with luggage is offered to all guests.
  • Guests normally don’t arrive before 3pm, unless it has been prior arranged, and leave before 10.30am on departure.

Arrival and car parking

  • Please advise your estimated time of arrival, so we can be sure we are here to welcome you.
  • We are the first b and b that you come to coming from Ambleside direction in the village.
  • You can park directly outside the house
  • There is room for two average sized cars; the car parking space is 18ft across, and length 13ft one side, and 15ft the other side
  • There is gravel on the car parking space.
  • To access the b and b, you have to walk down an alleyway which is on your left of the parking space the depth of the alleyway is to start with 31inches, its narrowest is 28 inches, and it ends at 39inches.
  • If you arrive at night, there is a street light outside where you park, and a light down the alleyway, which lights up with movement.

Main entrance and Reception

  • The main entrance is after you have walked down the alleyway, and it is the first doors on your right up three steps, the first step is 8inches high, the second 7inches high and the third 7 and a half inches high
  • The main doors are 56 and half inches, across, with each separate door at 28 and a quarter inches across.
  • To contact myself, it is best to knock on the Kitchen door opposite the b and b
  • There I will give you the key to the main door of the self contained bandb.
  • When you first walk into the b and b, it is laminate flooring.

Public areas general

  • The widths of the stairs are 29 and a half inches at the bottom and 33 and a half inches at the top, they are also carpeted.

Dining and Lounge area

  • Breakfast is served in the Kitchen area, with your own Table, with four chairs
  • The height of the table is 29 and half inches
  • Lounge area is when you first walk into the b and b, there is a sofa bed which is a 2 seater and it is 68 inches long and height 34 inches, when it has the bed out the bed is 69 and a half inches long and 44 and a half inches across
  • There is also a comfortable chair
  • There is a colour television, with a DVD player
  • There is a selection of DVDs on the shelf next to the table in the kitchen
  • Where there is also a radio and cd player.
    • .There is an electric woodburner in the lounge area.

Laundry

  • There is a washing machine, in the kitchen area which you are welcome to use
  • Washing machine tablets are under the sink in the cupboard.
  • There is an ironing board with iron in the cupboard under the stairs.
  • There is a Clothes dryer in the cupboard under the stairs.

Shops

  • There is a co-op, Newsagents, butchers, Hairdressers, climbing shops, about a minutes walk into Coniston, to your right as you walk out of the b and b.
  • There is a petrol station on your way out of Coniston towards Torver.
  • There are a few cash machines they are situated in the post-office, The Yewdale Hotel and the Petrol Station
  • There is only one bank which is Barclays and it is open mon, wed, and Friday.

Leisure facilities

  • There is a Swimming pool in Coniston, but it is an outside one, so it is only open in the summer, and it is at the john Ruskin School
  • The nearest indoor one is in Langdale, which is 8 miles away
  • You normally have to be a member but can get a day pass if you ring them on 01539432201.
  • There is also an indoor pool at troutbeck in Windermere.

Outdoor facilities

  • There are many outdoor things to do
  • You can go down to the Lake where they hire out boats, and do other activities on the lake.
  • Plenty of fantastic walks, on the fells and mountains.

Conference, meeting rooms, Banqueting, Clubs, Entertainment

  • No Conference, meeting rooms or Banqueting
  • The nearest Conference centre is at The Lowood Hotel, which is between Ambleside and Windermere.
  • There is a Coniston Sports and Social Centre
  • Football matches are held there and many social functions
  • It is situated opposite the primary School on your way out towards Hawkshead.
  • There are Five pubs in Coniston, The first being The Black Bull, which is a minutes walk to your right from the b and b.

Bedroom

  • This is to your left at the top of the stairs.
  • Door measurement is 27 inches across.
  • The Double bed is 4ft by 6ft., the height is 19 inches and there is carpet on the floor.
  • There is a Wardrobe, dressing table mirror, Television DVD chair, bedside cabinet with light and Alarm Clock.
  • Tea and Coffee facilities next to the wardrobe.
  • Hairdryer in the top right dressing table drawer.
  • Quilt and pillows are non-feathered.
  • Sewing Kit in bedside drawer.

Bathroom

  • Private Bathroom straight in front of you at the top of the stairs.
  • Door measurement is 27inches across.
  • Tiled floor.
  • Bath measurement is height 22 and half inches, length 65 and a half inches with shower part 27 inches across.
  • Toilet is next to Bath and Shower; it is 3 and half inches away from bath
  • Height of toilet is 32 inches, and the seat is 16 and a half inches from the floor.
    • .Height of Basin is 31 inches.
  • Towel rail next to the basin Height of that from the floor is 49 inches.
  • Whirlpool Bath.

Self-catering Kitchen

  • Cooker, Washing machine, Dishwasher, Microwave, Toaster, Kettle, Fridge all available to use in the Kitchen area.
  • The worktop height is 36 inches from the floor.
  • The fridge height is 69 inches.
  • Tea and Coffee facilities available, with real milk available in the fridge.
  • Central heating, operation is next to the kettle, there are radiators in every room.
  • Flooring is lino.

Grounds and Gardens.

  • The Garden is private, but you have use of the patio outside the b and b.

Additional information

  • No Smoking (smoking is allowed outside on patio area).
  • Good mobile reception.
  • Information folder available.
  • Fire extinguishers are on the premises, one in kitchen and one at the top at the stairs.
  • The building can be evacuated through the main doors.
  • First aid box in the kitchen cupboard above the microwave.
  • We are happy to cater for special diets or any particular likes or dislikes
  • Please advise us before arrival.

Future plans

  • To put a fence up on patio, with table and chairs on patio, so the b and b will have its own private patio area
  • Have this done by May 2009.
  • We are planning to install digi boxes for both the televisions.
